For a stylish London stay, it doesn’t get cooler than Shoreditch, the centre of East London cool. And – if you’re the type to never leave home without your four-legged friend then there's no better place than Hart Shoreditch.
Part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, Hart Shoreditch London is quite literally in the beating heart of everything and anything in Shoreditch. During London Fashion Week, it was a stone’s throw away from all the major East London venues, it’s also just a quick stroll away from the bars and nightclubs of Shoreditch High Street, Old Street and Great Eastern Street.
A fifteen minute stroll to Old Spitalfields Market and even Columbia Road and all the cool boutiques of Ebor Street and Boundary Road. You simply can’t find a better hotel to explore all thet Shoreditch has to offer.
Unlike other uppity hotels, Hart Shoreditch embraces the work hard/play hard lifestyle of East London’s jet-set. During the day, the stylish industrial-style lobby is a hub for laptop warriors having meetings, coffees and pow wows. In the evening, the lobby transforms into a cool lounge area, perfect for pre-night out cocktails with the gals.
Every room in Hart Shoreditch is dog-friendly – which is a bonus for us. We were originally booked into one of the Deluxe suites, but for an easy £40 for our two-night stay. The King Junior Suites are chic, cosy and come with an array of luxury amenities. Comfy bedding, stylish interiors, Norwegian toiletries and of course tea and coffee amenities too. Charlie was greeted with a doggy bowl and doggy bed, and a bag of treats – which he of course, appreciated.
The restaurant is home to a rotating pop-up of dining concepts. During our stay, it was the fabulous Mostrador, a family-style dining concept by Fernando Trocca which was influenced by Latin America’s ‘mostradores’ counter-service restaurants.
A bold reflection of Chef Fernando’s Latin spirit, Mostrador serves up some delicious Latin-inspired dishes that will truly take your breath away. The scallop tartare is refreshing and perfectly prepared offering a tantalising taster for what’s to come. The polpo, served Galatian-style with potatoes and greens, is a wonderful homage to traditional Spanish mostradores-style dining while the croquetas are simply divine.
For mains, we recommend splurging on the Argentinian Rib Eye. At £80 and with enough for two (three actually) diners, this was without a shadow of a doubt the best steak we’ve ever had in London. The steak is blackened with a flavourful rub of spices, while the meat itself mouth-wateringly tender and cooked to perfection. You won’t find a better steak than this in the whole of the city, and you will certainly be coming back for more.
Breakfast too is served at Mostrador and hotel guests can choose from a selection of avocado, bacon, eggs benedict and other things on toast – served with a nice hot cup of coffee and some fresh fruit juice.
In terms of dog-friendliness, TeamCocopup Charlie is allowed absolutely everywhere. He accompanied us during our meetings at the Mostrador Bar, treated himself to some steak offcuts during our dinner at the restaurant, enjoyed the fresh morning sunlight at breakfast and of course – made plenty of new friends all over the hotel lobby too. In fact, we were so impressed with our stay at Hart Shoreditch, that we did come back, just a week later, turning it into our base for London Fashion Week. For the price, quality, service and location – it simply doesn’t get better than this in East London.
